"The Moorish Science Temple of America deriving its power and authority from the Great Koran of Mohammed to propagate the faith and extend the learning and truth of the Great Prophet of ALI in America. To consecrate missionaries of the prophet and to establish the faith of Mohammed in America."

education

In addition to our Holy Day meetings, the ministers (Sheiks) within the Moorish Science Temple of America conduct lectures for the purpose of educating the public on nationality, birthrights and other aspects found within the doctrines of the Moorish Science Temple of America. If you are interested in having one of our Sheiks come and speak at your event, please contact us.

Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America, 26:8-9 says:

"Even in the path of wisdom, he toileth after folly; and shame and disappointment are the reward of his labor. But the wise man cultivates his mind with knowledge; the improvement of the arts is his delight, and their utility to the public crowneth with honor. Nevertheless, the attainment of virtue he accounteth as the highest learning; and the science of happiness is the study of his life."

elders / seniors

The Moorish Science Temple of America is available to assist the elderly in those daily activities that can become difficult in later years. This includes medical assistance, food assistance and assistance in hygiene.

Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America, 39:32-34 says:

"It is said, grey hairs are revered, and length of days an honor. Virtue can add reverence to the bloom of youth; and without it, age plants more wrinkles in the soul than on the forehead. Is age respected because it hateth riot? What justice is in this when it is not age that despiseth pleasure, but pleasure that despiseth age. Be virtuous while thou are young, so shall thine age be honored."

sunday school

Our Sunday School is open to all of those who wish to learn more about the teachings of the Moorish Science Temple of America. Sunday School is a fundamental aspect of the Moorish Science Temple of America. As it is stated in Act 5 of the Questionnaire and Additional Laws For The Moorish Americans:

"All members must promptly attend their meetings and send their children to Sunday School, and the teacher must confirm himself to the questionary. And let every member exercise his five senses who is able to do so, because out from your Sunday School comes the guiders of the Nation."

youth

The Moorish Science Temple of America is active in working with young people with issues and special needs. We assist the youth in dealing with the cares of the world and its harshest realities like homelessness, abuse, poverty, drugs and crime. Our goal is to give the youth a sense of safety, stability, self-sufficiency, and belonging.

Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America, 24:3 says:

"The piety of a child is sweeter than the incense of Persia offering to the sun; yea, more delicious than odors wafted from a field of Arabian spices of the western gales."

music

At the Moorish Science Temple of America, we realize that music is a powerful tool that is capable of conveying an uplifting message to the world. Since the Moorish Science Temple of America was founded for the uplifting of fallen humainty, music is one of the means we use to achieve that goal. The production and distribution of conscious music by Moorish American artists and our "Moor Poetry Experience" (in Durham) are just a few of the things we offer.

Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America, 35:18 says:

"If we lift up our eyes to the heavens, His glory shineth forth; if we cast them down on the earth, it is full of His goodness; the hills and the valleys rejoice and sing; fields, rivers, and woods resound His praise."

community service

The Moorish Science Temple of America is available to work with correctional facilities, courts and police departments to get selected convicts involved in community service. As a lawful non-profit organization that has been established since 1913, the Moorish Science Temple of America has a great history of helping convicts and juvenile delinquents to rehabilitate and become better citizens. We feed the hungry and provide clothes plus other needed items to those who are facing difficult times.

Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America, 32:1-3 says

"Happy is the man who hath sown in his breast the seeds of benevolence: the produce thereof shall be charity and love. From the fountain of his heart shall rise rivers of goodness; and the streams shall overflow, for the benefit of mankind. He assisteth the poor in their trouble; he rejoiceth in furthering the prosperity of all men."
